
PETALING JAYA: Four senators were sworn in following the announcement of their appointment into the Cabinet yesterday.
The swearing-in ceremony took place before Dewan Negara president Rais Yatim in the Parliament building.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who was appointed home minister, was the first to be sworn in at about 8.30am.
He was followed by Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) treasurer Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who was appointed international trade and industry minister, BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir (foreign affairs) and Na’im Moktar (religious affairs).
The four were seen entering the building at around 7.30am followed by Rais at 8am.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim named a 28-member Cabinet for his unity government.
The Cabinet comprises members from Pakatan Harapan (15 seats) through PKR, DAP, Amanah and Upko; BN (6) through Umno; Gabungan Parti Sarawak (5) through PBB, PRS and PDP; and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (1) through Sabah Bersatu. Na’im is not a member of any political party.
